In my initial blog I did not write about the Meeting Aesclepius exercise. Sorry, I misunderstood the question. I spoke about my meditative practices this week....the ones that worked for me!
The Meeting Aesclepius exerise did not work for me. I have had a diffucult time with the exercises in this course because I am not able to relax enough for me to truly concentrate on the exercises.
This week's exercise I was off to a rough start because I could not visualize a person that I wanted to focus on. My mind was racing too much so I decided to create a Buddha in my mind. This also did not work for me because it was difficult for me to relate to a 'figure or person' who was not real. I could not share anything such as emotions or feelings to a make believe vision in my head.
Jessica, we really do have to be in a quiet distraction free place to fully engage in these types of exercises. I am glad that other people complain about not being able to relax completely. I found that I was able to picture a wise person and keep them in my mind. I actually received many visions of this person flooding my mind. I hope that you find your way to become more relaxed. Meditation may not be your mantra, but mabe Yoga or pilates will be.

Hi Tracy,
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate your honesty. I had problems at first and then I started concentrating on Mother Teresa. I had to keep bringing myself back to the exercise until I finally completely got there. I just started meditating when I enrolled in this class. I too found it hard to stay focus, and I thought of some of the dammest things when I was trying to get into that state. It takes practice and I am still learning. I guess that is what life is all about: learning and learning and learning some more. Good luck in all that you do Tracy!
Peace and Love
